From my perspective, the two 'Nerd Girl' sessions at Lotusphere 2009 were real highlights of the show - intelligent, reasoned discussions around the future of IT, the impact of family background on careers and aspirations, the support (of lack of it) provided by parents and much much more.  The presenters and facilitators were women, and the topics clearly had a feminine perspective, but as a typical 30-something white male in IT, I learnt a huge amount from them. As I say, a real highlight of 2009.

The good news is that Nerd Girl is back for Lotusphere 2010:

SW Mockingbird - Tuesday  11:30am - 12:30pm

As the number of women with IT careers grows, key contributors in the tech space (both men and women) are impacted daily by gender issues. These differences create a great opportunity, and highlight women as a valuable asset to the IT community. Last year we brought together a panel of some of the most notable voices in the Lotus community to candidly discuss these topics and in a lively interactive session they shared their experiences, stories and advice. This year the panel have their own questions to ask, some of each other and some of you. Whether you work with a Nerd Girl, want to be a Nerd Girl, or already are a Nerd Girl -- don't miss this session!

With a panel of distinguished presenters including Mary Beth Raven, Susan Bulloch and Libby Ingrassia, this is sure to be a must-see session, whether you're a 'Nerd Girl' or not!
